Materials/Techniques: Background commercial batik quilted by me sister, Beth Hartford, as she was practicing free motion spirals at a recent retreat. I can’t stand to waste anything quilt related, so grabbed it when she was done and had an idea sparked by a Dover image which I traced onto Peltex, cut out and painted. It is hand appliquéd to the background and bound with a commercial print.

Artist's Statement: There are few things more precious than the relationship between a mother and a child and when I first saw this silhouette I knew it had to become a quilt.

This quilt earned $110.00 for Alzheimer's research.
